Flannel Sheets
Flannel fabric dates back to the 17th century. It was first produced in Whales where it was woven from wool. Today most flannel fabric is woven from wool and cotton or wool and synthetic Rayon. Flannel sheets are preferred bedding by many, especially in winter or colder climates as nothing can beat it for warmth and softness. Flannel sheets can be dyed or printed.
Unlike other woven fabric, where the quality is indicated by the thread count, flannel’s quality is indicated by it’s ounces of flannel per square yard (grams of flannel per square meter). A measure in excess of 4 oz. / sq. yd (113g / 0.9 m2) is considered high quality.
Pilling of the fabric can be very annoying. The only way to ensure that you don’t have to deal with this, is to buy the best quality flannel you can find. All items displayed bellow are made from high quality flannel with a grams per square meter higher than 113.
